Chesapeake Bay Homes For Sale
Chesapeake Bay, Virginia
The Chesapeake Bay is one of Virginia’s true treasures. Spanning from the James River/Hampton Roads region to the south all the way to the Potomac River in the North, the Chesapeake Bay provides lifestyle, commerce and pure fun for many of Virginia’s residents.
The Chesapeake Bay is fed by several large rivers which are fed by many smaller creeks, some of which originate as far away as Pennsylvania and New Your State. The Rappahannock, York, James and Potomac Rivers are the largest rivers to feed the Chesapeake. The North, East, Ware and Severn all find their way to the Chesapeake (via the Mobjack Bay) as does the Great Wicomico and Piankatank river. A host of creeks and smaller bays also feed and the Chesapeake can offer direct access.
The Chesapeake Bay is broken into two smaller regions - The Northern Neck and the Middle Peninsula. The Northern Neck, as the name would imply, is located further to the north and runs from the north edges of the Rappahannock to the Potomac Rvier. The Middle Peninsula is bounded by the York River to the south and the Rappahannock to the north. Both the Piankatank River and Mobjack Bay are located in the Middle Peninsula.
Many towns also jump to mind when you think of the Chesapeake Bay. Irvington, Kilmarnock, Whitestone, Tappahannock, Warsaw, Deltaville, Gywnn’s Island, Mathews and Gloucester (among others) all are towns scattered thought the Chesapeake region. Each one has a different personality and offers its residents a different style of life.
