Listings for University of Richmond Area 1
City of Richmond
Several neighborhoods surround the picturesque University of Richmond Campus and they contain some of the most valued homes in the Metro. (Listings below)
The University of Richmond is located on City of Richmond/Henrico County border along Three Chopt Road, River Road and to a lesser extent Patterson Avenue. Westham Parkway, the main ingress/egress from the Westham neighborhood which abuts the school, defines the western edge of what people mean when they say ‘We live near UR.’
The University of Richmond is located in an area that has many names. Sometimes referred to as UR, sometimes Westhampton, sometimes The West Endor The Near West End and sometimes Westham, the area, like many mature neighborhoods has boundaries that are far less defined than suburban Richmond.
The housing that surround the school (and to some extent, The Country club of Virginia) was largely built in the early-to-middle 20th Century along winding and hilly streets with irregularly shaped lots. The developments are generally heavily treed and offer a wide range of classic architectural styles common throughout Richmond.
The area itself is very strategically located with James River access close by. UR and the surrounding housing is easily accessed by the Huguenot Bridge meaning many neighborhoods along the south side of the River are closer than one might think. Cherokee Road, Old Gun Road, Bon Air, Stratford Hills and Southhampton are all close.
Some of the best shopping in the Metro is within minutes including the Stony Point Shops, Carytown, River Road Shopping Center and Libbie/Grove. With both the best public and private schools quite close by, the UR area is one of the most sought after in Richmond.
